Children's educational products must satisfy two groups of people: the children themselves and the adults who make the purchases. Often the products will bring the two groups together as they share the experience of play.

When I create and execute design concepts for children's products I balance a sense of whimsy with a respect for children's intelligence and curiosity. Like the great children's author Beatrix Potter, I'm always mindful that children resent being talked down to. I also keep my other market—doting parents and grandparents—in mind. They're likely to be reassured by the magazine endorsements and Parents' Choice Awards garnered by products I helped develop.
